The town of Kalbarri lies on the estuary of the Murchison River, about a day's drive north of Perth. The area is popular with tourists who come to see and experience the Murchison's colourful canyons and gorges as well as the nearby Batavian Coast. Equally colourful , this extremely rugged coastline stretches southward from the estuary, with the most accessible and brilliant Red Bluff marking its northern beginning.
