Description on back of card:
"Blackfish" is the name given by First Nations people to Orcas or "Killer Whales". The body of water on the Northwest Coast of British Columbia, designated on all charts as "Blackfish Souns" is aptly named as the Orcas seem to abound in this area. Often the sound is included in the course chosen by cruise ships. The mountain in the background of the painting is Mt. Hallsworth, more commonly known as "The Elephant". Used as a landmark by seamen, its head and trunk can be seen for many miles.
